By implementing a comprehensive 5G uplink enhancement solution, they've transformed the way rural merchants engage in live-streaming e-commerce, addressing critical digital inclusion challenges.
The Wanliang Ginseng Market, a global hub for ginseng trade, faced a unique connectivity issue despite having 5G coverage. Traditional 5G networks, optimized for content consumption, struggled to meet the uplink demands of simultaneous high-definition live-streaming, resulting in frequent disruptions and lost sales opportunities.
But here's where it gets controversial... The convergence of hundreds of live-streamers during peak hours created a perfect storm, with traditional 5G frame structures ill-equipped to handle the demand. ZTE's innovative solution integrated four complementary technologies, systematically addressing the challenge.
Phase one introduced the 1D3U frame structure, rebalancing resource allocation to favor uplink traffic. This software optimization increased uplink capacity by over 100%, setting the stage for further enhancements. The second phase deployed a QCell digital distribution system with beamforming antennas, doubling cell count and system capacity. This hardware transformation supported up to 143 concurrent live-streamers per cell, a significant improvement.
Advanced optimizations included uplink MU-MIMO technology and packet aggregation algorithms tailored for live-streaming traffic. These enhancements improved spectral efficiency and reduced PRB utilization, ensuring smoother streaming experiences. The result? A 583% increase in uplink capacity, empowering merchants to focus on their business rather than connectivity struggles.
The impact is evident in the numbers. Annual e-commerce transactions exceed 200 million RMB, with over 500 enterprises and 3,000 live-streaming merchants actively engaged. This economic participation benefits approximately 50,000 farmers, transforming connectivity into a powerful tool for economic empowerment.
And this is the part most people miss... The solution's success extends beyond technical metrics. It's a social transformation story, with women entrepreneurs at the forefront. Traditional rural merchants now have direct access to national markets, improving their pricing power and customer reach.
