What happened during the Australia Supercross Weekend 2025? It was a thrilling two-day event with two races, one on the Gold Coast and the other in Adelaide, South Australia. The Gold Coast race was packed with big-name Wild Card riders, including Cooper Webb, Haiden Deegan, and Eli Tomac.
In Adelaide, the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy saw Quad Lock Honda's Dean Wilson reclaim his 2023 crown. Despite the emotional series, marked by the loss of his mom, Wilson dominated, winning all but two races to Jett Lawrence's last weekend in Melbourne. French rider Cedric Soubeyras finished second overall, while CDR Yamaha's Aaron Tanti had his best ride of the season in Adelaide, ahead of Luke Clout.
In SX2, CDR Yamaha's Ryder Kingsford claimed his first SX2 Championship. After Lux Turner's wrist injuries in Melbourne, the title battle between Kingsford and Quad Lock Honda's Alex Larwood intensified. Kingsford dominated the heat but faced a setback when he crashed at the start of Final #1. Larwood seized the opportunity, finishing second to Byron Dennis, just ahead of Kingsford. Larwood then secured the Final 2 win and overall, while Kingsford finished fourth. Rhys Budd and Dennis rounded out the podium.
The WSX Race inside Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast was a highlight, featuring three superstar wild card riders: Cooper Webb, Haiden Deegan, and Eli Tomac. The race lived up to the hype, with Savatgy topping the board in qualifying and securing the super pole win. Savatgy dominated the race, taking the holeshot and leading the pack. Roczen, Tomac, and Craig battled for the lead, with Roczen eventually taking the victory. Webb, Roczen, and Anderson finished second, third, and fourth, respectively.
Race two saw Jordi Tixier grab the holeshot, but he was quickly shuffled back. Webb led early, with Savatgy and Anderson in second and third. Deegan made a push to the back of Savatgy but was soon in defensive mode, blocking Savatgy. The race concluded with Webb winning, Roczen and Anderson tied for the overall GP win, and Anderson second. Tomac, despite a rough finish, rebounded in race three, taking the holeshot and winning.
The SX2 race saw Max Anstie qualify atop the board but face a setback in SuperPole. Enzo Lopes carried his momentum into the night, grabbing the holeshot and leading the first lap. Anstie made an aggressive pass for the lead on lap two, inching away for a comfortable victory. Coty Schock and Cullin Park battled for the final podium spot, with Park ultimately securing his first overall podium of the season. Kyle Peters and Cole Thompson finished fifth and fifth overall, respectively.
The series standings saw Roczen leading with a 27-point advantage, but he won't race the final two rounds. The championship battle now focuses on Christian Craig, Joey Savatgy, and Jason Anderson. Anstie leads Schock in the series standings, with a 28-point advantage, but the battle for second is heating up. The series resumes next weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, with no big-name Wild Card riders at the remaining rounds.
